Le confinement: a timeline of France’s Covid-19 measures

Covid-19 has claimed the lives of approximately 160,000 people in France since it emerged in early 2020, with more than 38 million confirmed cases, according to the World Health Organisation. That comes despite emergency government measures on a scale not seen in peacetime, including nationwide lockdowns to prevent the spread of the virus, delivery of 157 million Covid vaccine doses, and enormous financial packages to counter the economic fallout.

This Dods Political Intelligence report lists key measures taken by France’s government and state bodies in response to the pandemic since early 2020, including hyperlinks to original sources. The report is an abbreviated version of bespoke client research produced by Dods Political Intelligence French-language service for a well-known multinational pharmaceutical company.
