EU Briefing – Public Hearing: Sustainable Housing and the Energy Transition

As Europe advances its green agenda, the question of how to deliver climate-resilient, affordable housing has moved to the top of the EU policy agenda. On 2 June 2025, the European Parliament’s Special Committee on the Housing Crisis (HOUS) convened a public hearing to explore the challenges and opportunities of making housing both sustainable and socially inclusive.

This high-level debate brought together EU policymakers, industry leaders, architects, and researchers to address key issues including:
