“Make Europe Great Again”: A look into the Hungarian Presidency
From July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024, Hungary will hold the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union under the motto “Make Europe Great Again”.
The Presidency comes at a time marked by war in Europe’s neighbourhood and a myriad of other challenges posed by global competition, climate change or the demographic trends.
Against this background, Hungary has confirmed that the key priorities of its Presidency include:

- The reinforcement of European defence policy
- A consistent and merit-based enlargement policy
- Stemming illegal migration
- Shaping the future of cohesion policy
- A farmer-oriented EU agricultural policy
- Addressing demographic challenges.
