Priorities of the Polish Presidency

From January 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025, Poland will, for the second time, hold the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Under the motto Security, Europe!”, Poland will seek to navigate the EU through the turbulent geopolitical waters in Europe and beyond, dealing with consequences of Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine, erosion of the rules-based international order and hybrid attacks targeting European democracy.

The Polish Presidency has underlined that it would support activities strengthening European security in all its dimensions, namely:

  • Defence and security;
  • Protection of people and borders;
  • Resistance to foreign interference and disinformation;
  • Ensuring security and freedom of business;
  • Energy transition;
  • Competitive and resilient agriculture; and
  • Health security

With the new European Parliament having already settled in, and the new European Council President and the new European Commission starting their mandates, the Polish Presidency will have an opportunity to play a big role in shaping the goals and policies for the new institutional cycle.

Our latest Dods EU Political Intelligence Guide provides the key priorities, the key dates and the key contacts of the new Presidency.
