On Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) published an updated Economic and Fiscal Outlook.
Alongside this, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, delivered a statement to Parliament on the state of the economy and public finances.
This was a non-fiscal event, in line with the Government’s commitment to deliver one major fiscal event a year at the Budget. As a result, the Chancellor announced no new policy. Instead, the focus was on providing policy certainty in an “uncertain world.”
The Dods Political Intelligence team has produced a report summarising the main takeaways from the 2026 Spring Statement, including an overview of the OBR Economic and Fiscal Outlook, and a summary of the Chancellor’s speech.
