On March 5th, the European Left, comprising over 40 left-wing parties, unveiled their manifesto for the European Parliament elections. It outlines proposals for the public ownership and regulation of water and energy utilities, increased investment in public housing, the taxation of the affluent, and the acceleration of the European Union’s initiatives for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, the party has named Austrian Walter Baier as their lead candidate, known as the Spitzenkandidat, for the position of European Commission president.
